Mozambique style – Comfortably Rustic Self-Catering Accommodation, nestled between sand dunes and surrounded by shady coconut palms, within walking distance to the pristine Barra beach stretch, only 270m away.

Come and relax with us at Nao Faz Mal, away from the everyday hustle and bustle of life. We have 4 unique Casitas (Cottages) to choose from, with a maximum capacity of 17 guests at a time, tucked away at Praia da Barra, in the Inhambane district of Mozambique. Our Comfortably Rustic Self-Catering Casitas are traditionally built using the local flora; palm leaves, reed, timber, and thatch, making them a perfect complement to the surrounds, with the most amazing detail all around. You will meet our local neighbours that make a living selling their goods and will gladly bring you fruit and Portuguese pão (bread) or a fresh catch of the day if you like? Barra has everything you will need; from an endless beach with a warm, calm, clear sea and hot balmy days, to all sorts of entertainment and activities, as well as, fresh produce stalls, colourful craft markets and a few small trading stores, all offering a variety of goods and memorabilia… not forgetting the local beers that are highly recommended!

The Bungalow - Sleeps 6 Guests

»» Our 90m² reed, thatch, timber and brick Casita sleeps 6 guests comfortably, offering space for 2 extra (under 16) guests, if you make use of the double sleeper couch in the living area. The 2 bedrooms and the kitchen/dining/living room lead onto a 2m wide patio where you can sit and relax, enjoying a view of the shady coconut palms and white beach sand that makes up our garden. Your braai/barbecue area is right in front of your Casita, under the trees and stars.

Specs: 2 Bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, personal portable braai/barbecue
Kitchen: Cookware, cutlery, crockery, glasses, gas stove with oven, fridge/freezer combo, chest freezer, kettle
Beds: 2 x Double beds, 2 x Single beds, (optional double sleeper couch)
En-suite bathrooms: Shower, hand basin, toilet
Included: Fans, mosquito nets, pillows, sheets, linen, outside chairs and table

Note: Extra guests will need to share an en-suite. Please remember to bring along bedding for the sleeper couch

The Nut Hut - Sleeps 4 Guests

»» Our raised 90m2 reed, thatch and timber Casita is on stilts, which allows for a slight ocean view offering lots of privacy and comfort for 4 guests. The 2 en-suite bedrooms and kitchen/dining area lead onto a 2m wide deck that overlooks a vast amount of coconut trees.. Your personal bricked-in braai/barbecue area is right next to your Casita, outside under the trees and stars.

Note: There are stairs to climb to get up to and into your Casita.

Fisherman's - Sleeps 4 Guests

»» This little gem is a 49m2 open-planned reed, thatch and timber Casita with a 2m wide patio area. Fisherman’s has everything you’ll ever need for a comfortable stay, at a super affordable price. Sit and relax in the shade of the thatch, with a view of the white sand dunes and coconut trees that make up our garden. Your braai/barbecue is just outside your Casita, under the trees and stars.

Bathroom: Open shower, hand basin, toilet

Note: Fisherman’s is ideal for a couple, a group of 4 friends, or a family with younger children

Cosy Corner - Sleeps 4 Guests

»» Similar to Fisherman’s, our second little gem is a 49m2 open-planned reed, thatch and timber Casita with a 2m wide shaded patio, but, we’ve also included a traditional grass wall partition between the sleeping areas, creating 2 semi private spaces. You can sit and chill on the patio, enjoying the view of the white sand dunes and coconut palms that make up our garden. Your braai/barbecue is just outside your Casita, under the trees and stars.

Note: Cosy Corner is ideal for a couple or a family of 4 with younger children

Please Note: Only The Nut Hut is available for rental throughout the year.
All of our Casitas are available for rental over the December seasons.

Payments, Cancellations, Terms & Conditions:

A 50% Deposit secures your booking
Final payment to be made 1 Month prior to your arrival date. If your final payment is not honoured within 2 days of the due date, you will risk losing your booking
Deposits are non-refundable for cancellations from guests
No refunds for late arrivals, non-arrivals or early departures
Cancellations received 15-30 days prior to arrival – forfeit 75% of booking value
Cancellations received less than 15 days prior to arrival – forfeit 100% of booking value
Bookings are subject to availability and work on a first come first serve basis
Check in time: 14:30 (2:30 pm) – Check out time: 10:30am (unless otherwise arranged)
Housekeeping: is an optional extra service that can be arranged for if and when you need it and to a schedule that suits your needs.
We’ll make sure that your Casita is spotless for when you arrive and take care of your linen during your stay
Bedding and Mozzie Nets are supplied. Please bring your own Beach and Bath Towels
NB: Personal appliances: An additional fee will be charged per day for any extra appliances that consume large amounts of electricity. Please notify us of any before your arrival
Casitas (Cottages) are non-smoking areas, feel free to smoke anywhere outside
